About Hawker United Church of Christ
Hawker Church (named after two of our town's first settlers) is a friendly small congregation (60-65 people on a typical Sunday) so you'll get a warm welcome in Jesus' name every week. Our "traditional" worship service at 10:30 a.m. gives you and your family many opportunities to participate, and keeps us tied to the generations who have gone before us and those who are yet to come. Sunday School and Youth Group meet on Sunday mornings at 10:45, following the pastor's message (and cookies!) for the children. We also offer 4-6 week "seminars" for adults throughout the year. We're blessed by great music with popular local guitarist Danny Voris, Joe Saksa on the organ and piano, and our choir. Our pastor is a former Army chaplain and our associate pastor, Bob Gambrell, is an Air Force veteran.

Special Services -- We host an Easter sunrise service in the spring, outdoor worship in the summer, a Blessing of the Animals in October, and Christmas Eve candlelight services in December.
Weddings and Funerals -- We can comfortably seat about 195 people in our sanctuary, 78 people in our outdoor picnic pavilion (more if you move the picnic tables and set up chairs instead), or 12 in our side chapel. Our Fellowship Hall seats approximately 125 people at round or rectangular tables (and, for an extra fee, you can serve wine or beer to your guests). Our pastor or associate pastor will officiate at all ceremonies here, and our organist and/or our guitarist provides the music. Contact our church office well in advance if you are interested in either a wedding (1 man and 1 woman) or funeral here to learn about our fees and other details.
We also offer the use of our Fellowship Hall and picnic pavilion for bridal and baby showers and other events. Contact the church office to learn more.
BELIEFS
United Church of Christ Statement of Faith: We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, and to His deeds we testify: He calls the worlds into being, creates Man in His own image and sets before him the ways of life and death. He seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin. He judges men and nations by His righteous will declared through prophets and apostles. In Jesus Christ, the Man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Lord, He has come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to Himself. He bestows upon us His Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues and races. He calls us into His church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be His servants in the service of men, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at His table, to join Him in His passion and victory. He promises to all who trust Him forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, His presence in trial and rejoicing and eternal life in His kingdom which has no end. Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto Him. Amen.
