The mission of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lansing Michigan is
to recognize and affirm all people as children of God.
In serving Jesus Christ as our Savior we will
proclaim, teach, and witness to the loving Grace of God.
For the good news of reconciliation is available to all people:
redemption and rebirth, both personal and social.
We welcome all people to the Communion Table.
Our church is open to all and affirms all.

BELIEFS
Full congregation membership is obtained by affirming
"Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior"
publically in front of the congregation at any worship service and requesting to join the worship and witness of the fellowship. We will accept any prior baptism affirmed by the recipient. We traditionally baptize by imersion at a worship service, but would make other arrangements for heath or mobility reasons.
Like any Disciple of Christ congregation, the spectrum of our personal beliefs is a 'bell curve' with members at the conservative and liberal extremes with most members holding middle of the range postures on theology, Bible Interpretation, personal salvation and social concerns. Current membership will have backgrounds from many denominations, ranging from high liturgy (Roman Catholic-Luthern) to non-liturgical (Baptist-Charismatic.) Our worship service is a blend of traditional and praise hymns, and a wide variety of choir and special Christian music.
Credal statements, including the Disciples of Christ statement of faith are affirmed with liberty given to the personal conscience to omit any particular word or line.
Members are expected to attend worship regularly, encouraged to financially support the Life, Mission and Ministry of the fellowship and pray in support of its witness.
