I am currently a serving Elder. (Elders are responsible for the spiritual life of the congregation.) We currently have one worship service at 10:30 AM on Sundays, with special services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve.
Our worship is a blend of traditional and praise worship, which includes prayers for the joys and concerns of the congregation, scripture reading(s), message(s) and communion "glued" together with music. Worship is led by a pastor and laiety, drawn from across the entire fellowship, members and non-members.
Our congregation is a not-for-profit corporation, locally governed by the congregation, with a voluntary covenantal association with Christian Churches -Michigan Region and nationally with the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) of the United States and Canada.
I love this congregation because it is a "family" church. It is "family" to me; it accepts me, emotionally loves me, hears me, and supports me even when they don't agree with me in matters of the faith. Every time we gather, we worship the same God and as needy sinners, and we all gather around the communion table in need of forgiveness, reconciliation, and recommitment.
How can one not love such a church family? wkw
