The Christian Alliance, primarily for home missions work, and the Missionary Alliance, for missionary work abroad, were both formed in 1887 by A.B.Simpson, a former Presbyterian minister. They finally merged in 1897. The result was The Christian and Missionary Alliance, a strongly evangelical organization that believes in Jesus Christ as Savior, sanctifier, healer and coming king. The Alliance sponsors foreign missions in 82 countries with over 1,000 missionaries and 15,000 pastors and workers ministering to almost 2 million people.
