About St Michael Church Paruthiyaraithottam
HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH
After 1930 AD when the Mulagumoodu Parish and then the Thuckalay parish functioned separately, around 20 families of our Parutiyaraithottam village erected St. Michael Archangel Kurusadi and worshiped the Lord.
Eventually, after some decades the people from our village approached the Kalkurichy parish priest to organize and conduct a holy mass in it, and the mass was performed at St Michael Kurusadi in 1973.
The foundation stone for the new church was laid by Rev. Fr. Gnanapirakasam Adigalar in 1975 after then, The construction work for new church was completed with the overwhelming effort of people from Paruthiyaraithottam under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Soosai and then blessed on 1978 by the most Rev. M. Arokiasamy (Bishop of Kottar)
Now as a substation of the Kalkurichy parish, Paruthiyaraithottam functions as a theological community of St Michael Archangel with over 150 families.
