Meet The Pastor

Reverend Matt Curry
The Rev. Matt Curry is a Texas native and longtime journalist. Pastor Matt grew up on a small farm south of Iowa Park, the son of a carpenter and a schoolteacher. He graduated with a degree in journalism and political science from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls and a master’s in divinity from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth. He has been Pastor at Central Presbyterian Church since 2012. Pastor Matt has been involved in prison ministry through the ecumenical Kairos program and worked as a volunteer for the Soupmobile homeless feeding program in Dallas and Presbyterian Night Shelter in Fort Worth. He also served as a minister-in-training at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth. Prior to his calling as a pastor, he worked as a reporter/editor at the Wichita Falls Times Record News, Amarillo Globe-News, Corpus Christi Caller-Times and for 13 years at The Associated Press in Dallas. He has also been a legislative aide in the State Capitol. His interests include the intersection of the Bible with the issues of homelessness, poverty, mental illness and immigration.
