Meet The Pastor

Pastor Justin Carter
Hometown: North Fond du Lac, WI Family: My wife, Charity, and I were married on June 4th 2011. Our son, Curtis, was born on April 14th, 2016. My family is of utmost importance to me and are my first and primary ministry! Ministry Experience: My first official (not as a layperson) ministry experience was during my senior year of college in 2007-2008 as an intern at Burning Bush Baptist Church in Ringgold, GA. After I finished college, I moved to North Carolina to pursue my Master's degree. During that program, I served as the student minister for West Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, NC from 2008-2013. It was at West Oxford that I was licensed (2009) and ordained (2013). In 2013, God called me to move to Texas to pursue further schooling, and led me to serve at Patillo Baptist Church from 2013-2016. In September 2016, God called me here to First Baptist. Education: B.S. Youth Ministry (2008), Tennessee Temple University, Chattanooga, TN. M.Div. Christian Ministry (2013), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC. Ph.D. Christian History and Historical Theology (in progress), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Fort Worth, TX. Interests: Reading the works of old dead guys, reading books about old dead guys, and pretty much reading, in general. My wife and I like to watch movies, go to new restaurants, and re-visit our favorite restaurants. Our favorite local restaurant is New York Hill in Thurber. Favorite Book: On the Apostolic Preaching, by Irenaeus of Lyons.
