About Calvary Chapel of Forney

Welcome Verse by verse teaching of the Bible is a distinctive of Calvary Chapel of Forney. We welcome you to fellowship with us and be a part of a body of believers committed to the truth and teaching of God’s Word. It is our sincere hope that our intimate worship services and in-depth Bible study will either bring you to a saving knowledge or a closer relationship with our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. What is Calvary Chapel? Calvary Chapel of Forney is a non-denominational Christian church affiliated with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa which began in 1965 in Costa Mesa, California. At Calvary Chapel of Forney we place a high emphasis on the teaching of the Word, and an open heart to the work of the Holy Spirit as essential. It is this balance that makes Calvary Chapel a distinct and uniquely blessed movement of God. What Can I expect? Worship We begin our services with a time of worship through music and singing. You’ll notice that most of the music is contemporary in style and arrangement with a blend of traditional hymns. Our focus is to offer our worship and praises to God. Announcements Following singing, we take a short time to share announcements and news with the fellowship. This is an informal family time as we get caught up on what’s happening in our church. Sit back, relax, and see what God is doing at Calvary. The Morning Message Part of the mission of Calvary Chapel is the simple and straightforward study of the Bible. We typically cover an entire book over several months; progressing chapter by chapter, verse by verse, keeping the Word in context. We occasionally take the time to focus on topics that relate to the Christian life but, these are reserved for special seasons of the year or times of need in the life of our church. Prayer and Fellowship Prayer is offered after each service. If you have a need, Pastor Mike is always available to pray with you and provide whatever guidance he can. It is important at Calvary Chapel that our Sunday services not be the typical ‘church thing’. The church is not a building; it is people who share a common faith, mission and destiny. We can’t change you, but God’s Word can! We invite you to come grow with us in God’s Word!

BELIEFS

Our Beliefs Jesus Christ: Is the foundation and cornerstone of the church. He came to restore man’s broken relationship with God. His finished work on the cross made that possible. (1 Corinthians 3:11, Ephesians 2:20, Romans 5:6-10) The Bible: Is the inspired, infallible word of God and is relevant and applicable to man today. Therefore, we place great emphasis upon teaching it in public, studying it in private, and using it as a guide for our daily lives. (1 Timothy 4:13, 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 2:13) Worship: We believe God is worthy of all praise, reverence and love. We take special time to worship Him in church through song. It is our goal to worship Him with our whole lives as well; at home, at work and at play. (John 4:23, Colossians 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Christian Growth: As believers, we are to be growing in our walk with the Lord. We encourage this by abiding in Jesus Christ through obedience to His word, prayer, and fellowship and by yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit. (John 15:4, Romans 8:29, Ephesians 5:18) Our Mission: WIN: A person to Jesus Christ through the word of the Lord. Mark 16:15 And he said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature DISCIPLE: Train a person in the teaching of the word of the Lord. Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit SEND: Equip a person to fulfill the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:12 For the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
