Meet The Pastor
Pastor Rev. Dr. Daniel Metzger
Rev. Daniel Metzger has served as the pastor at Old Zion Lutheran Church since Pentecost Sunday of 2009. He was ordained and entered the sacred office of the Holy Ministry in the year 1980. After two years as a parish pastor, he was called to teach English Literature and Religious Studies at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. He served in that capacity for twenty-five years. In addition to his seminary degree, he has earned an MA in English Literature from Mankato State University and a Ph. D. in Religious Studies from Marquette University. He returned to the parish ministry in the year 2006, serving first as Associate Pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet, Illinois, and then accepting the call from Old Zion.
Pastor Metzger married his wife Nancy (nee Schuman) in 1976. They have been blessed with three sons and (so far) eight grandchildren.
