Our Mission

The Mission of the people of God called Original Free Will Baptists is to glorify God, therefore, we strive to know Christ, build His church and make Him known to all people as we continue to seek His will. We believe this mission can be fulfilled through ….... 1. Worshipping: "Worship the Father in spirit and truth" (John 4:23) We commit ourselves to glorifying God by worship, which is the adoration of God. Worship is duly required of all His children through praise, prayer, the reading and preaching of His word, and should inspire witness leading to discipleship. Every christian may worship God privately; however, this should never replace the corporate worship of the church. 2. Growing: "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18) We commit ourselves to glorifying God by moving toward maturity through learning, fellowshipping, and doing the work of ministry. 3. Caring: "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10) We commit ourselves to glorifying God by making Christ known to the world, by caring for those of the flock of God, and by demonstrating the love of God to all peoples. 4. Sharing: "Freely ye have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8b) We commit ourselves to glorifying God by sharing what we know, what we have, and what we are, with all peoples. 5. Equipping: "For the equipping (perfecting) of the saints for the work of ministry" (Ephesians 4:12a) We commit ourselves to glorifying God by equipping all believers for the work of ministry. The Church, through its leadership, is to see to it that the people of God are educated, guided, and cared for that they might become spiritually mature as they do the work of ministry. THE SACRED ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH: Christian Baptism--We believe that the immersion of believers in water (in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) represents the burial and resurrection of Christ, the death of Christians to the world, the washing of their souls from the pollution of sin, their rising to newness of life, their commitment to serve God, and their resurrection at the last day. The Lord's Supper--We believe that this is a commemoration of the death of Christ for our sins, in the use of bread which He made the emblem of His broken body, and the cup, the emblem of His shed blood; and by it the believer expresses his love for Christ, his faith and hope in Him, and pledges to Him perpetual fidelity. Washing the Saints' Feet--We believe that this is a sacred ordinance which teaches humility, the necessity of the servant hood of every believer, and reminds the believer of the necessity of a daily cleansing from all sin. It was instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ as an "example" on the night of His last supper and betrayal. CHURCH COVENANT: Having given ourselves to God, by faith in Christ, and adopting the word of God as our rule of faith and practice, we now give ourselves to one another by the will of God in this solemn covenant. We promise by His grace to love and obey Him in all things, to avoid all appearance of evil, to abstain from all sinful amusements and unholy conformity to the world and to provide things honest in the sight of all men.
