BELIEFS

Science of Mind was established in 1927 by Dr. Ernest Holmes. Despite limited formal education, Holmes studied world religions, psychology, philosophy and science. He called Science of Mind “the most liberal spiritual movement the world has ever seen,” and stated that this philosophy, “In its broadest and truest sense includes all there is in science, religion and philosophy (at that time) … It borrows much of its light from others, but in so doing does not rob anyone, for Truth is universal and never personal.” Science of Mind is based on ten core concepts that run as a theme through both ancient spiritual wisdom and modern religious teachings. These spiritual values include: prayer, oneness, wholeness, abundance and forgiveness. Within the heart of this teaching, we find the strength and wisdom of Christianity, the timeless and pervasive truths of Hinduism and Buddhism, ideals held dear in Native American culture, and many others. •We believe that Love is all there is. •We believe that all life is created from Love, by Love, into exquisite individualized expressions of this Love in physical form. •We believe that everything is intricately and inseparably One. That the human family, the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms, as well as, all the forces of nature (wind, thunder, lightning, etc.) including all elements, are all connected in the intricate web of Life, and that each is affected by actions of any other. •We believe that our experience in this physical form is a journey of remembering this Truth; that as we remember the Truth of who and what we are that we inevitably live from this Truth.
