I welcome you to our Church Finder Page! Come and join us for Worship at 10am on Sunday Morning's! We preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus without compromise! Rev. Jonathon D. Counts was born in Trenton, New Jersey but was raised in South Brunswick, NJ. He was educated in the South Brunswick Public School System. Graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Clark Atlanta University. Rev. Counts is also a graduate of the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work with a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in Children and Families. He is a licensed practitioner in the State of Maryland working in the Baltimore County School System as a School Therapist. Currently, he is graduating Senior at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC pursuing his Master of Divinity Degree. While at Wesley, he has been groomed in Homiletics by the Rev. Dr. H Beecher Hicks, one of the greatest pulpiteers of our time. Rev. Counts has a passion for education and believes that when God calls us to ministry, He also calls us to prepare ourselves. Rev. Counts accepted the call to preach at the tender age of 13 under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Keith D. Tillett pastor of the St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, Ewing NJ where he was born and spiritually nurtured. When Rev. Counts moved to Atlanta, Georgia for college he served and was mentored at the Shaw Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Smyrna, Georgia under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. George D. Crenshaw. Relocated to the Maryland area to pursue graduate studies, he connected with the Historic Pennsylvania Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church under the Rev. Dr. Lester A McCorn where he served faithfully on the Ministry Team and as the Minister of Recovery and Counseling. Rev. Counts served as the Pastor of the Abundant Life A.M.E. Zion Church in Laurel, Maryland. Currently, he is the Pastor of S.G. Spottswood AME Zion Church and Abundant Life has merged with the congregation. Rev. Counts has a social media ministry via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram where he shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in his generation and beyond. He has a very unique anointing that is multigenerational. He is a published writer in the African American Lectionary entitled, “Ministry Beyond the Barriers” where he discusses how to minister to youth who deal with mental illnesses. Rev. Counts combines his ministry and profession to empower individuals to become delivered, transformed, renewed, as well as restored. He is very serious about the calling that God has placed on his life and this seriousness has never wavered since entering the ministry. Rev. Counts is married to the former Darlene Butler who serves alongside him in ministry. He is a husband, preacher, teacher, pastor, practitioner, worship leader, and intercessor but most importantly he is a Friend of God!
