Meet The Pastor
Rev. Dr. David G. Oravec
Pastor Dave Oravec began his call to serve at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in August 2013. Prior to that, he served as Interim Pastor at Trinity Lutheran in Hagerstown, MD (’11-’13) and served as Pastor at Evangelical Lutheran in Frederick, MD (’90-’09). A Navy chaplain holding the rank of Captain, he also spent several years working with Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed, Bethesda, as the Command Chaplain on the USNS Comfort, and in Ramadi, Iraq, where he ministered to Seabees and Marines in ’04-05.
He and his wife Sandy have four grown children and love living on the South River in Annapolis. Sandy teaches a lively and wonderful group of second grade students at Crofton Woods Elementary School. Together they enjoy traveling, reading, music, kayaking, and spending time with family and the many wonderful folks at St. Martin’s and beyond.
Pastor Dave notes that proclaiming Christ’s Good News and having the privilege of serving others in the role of pastor are among his greatest joys. He is excited and filled with hope about the years to come with the congregation and school at St. Martin’s!
