BELIEFS
Preamble: -- In essential matters, we have unity. (Eph. 4:4-6) -- In non-essential matters, we have liberty. (Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22) -- In all matters, we show love. (I Cor. 13:2)
About God: He is the eternally existent Creator and Ruler of the universe. Three in One and One in Three – a divine mystery. (Gen. 1:1 & 26, Deut. 6:4)
About Jesus: He is God come in human form, the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Savior of the world, who lived a life of sinless and perfect obedience to God. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sins on the cross, and arose from the dead on the third day, demonstrating His power over sin and death. Soon afterward, He ascended to Heaven's glory, and will return again to the earth as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 53, Isaiah 54:5, Matt 1:23, I Cor. 15-22)
About the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit makes persons aware of their need for repentance, salvation and relationship with God. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, uniting, comforting and guiding them as they serve and grow in God's Kingdom. The Holy Spirit brings spiritual gifts to believers, and will empower and infill them on a continual basis as the believers allow, baptizing them into spiritual freedom and accelerated, supernatural spiritual growth and maturity. (John 16:5-11, I Cor. 12:4-11 & 12-13, Acts 1:8)
About the Bible: The Bible is God's word to us, without error as originally given, and is our supreme source of Truth and guidance for living. (Psalm 119:105, II Tim. 3:16)
About Creation & Human Beings: The universe (and the Earth) was created in perfection, with the human race as the crown of creation, created in God's image. But creation became broken and polluted by sin when Adam and Eve sinned and rebelled against God, giving their God-given authority over to Satan. Since then, we humans have been entangled by sin and the broken world in which we live, each one sinning and separated from God by our individual sins. Believers, restored to God through the atonement of Jesus' death, and possessing their God-given authority once again, are God's agents on earth for God's Kingdom work. (Gen. 1:27-31, I John 5:19-20, Isaiah 59:2-3, Acts 1:8, II Cor. 5:17, Eph 2:13, Col. 1:13)
About Salvation & True Freedom: Salvation is God's free gift for all who will accept it. Salvation is a process of confessing our sins, asking for God's forgiveness, turning away from our self-ruled lives, surrendering our will and living for God as evidence of our individual salvation. Living by God's Word produces true freedom and Joy. (Eph. 2:8, Romans 5:2, John 14:15 & 21, John 8:36)
About the Church & God's Kingdom: God's church is made of people living for God, not of buildings raised in His honor or name. All Christians are priests before God, and are to live for His Glory, caring for each other in a loving way. God's Kingdom began with the work of Jesus on earth, and will continue forever. (Col. 3:17, I Peter 2:9, Gal. 2:20, Gal. 6:2,Eph 2:22-23, Dan. 2:44, Matt 2:3, 4:17 and 10:7, Mark 1:15)
About Satan/ The Devil: (Satan is Hebrew for "the opposer" or "the adversary") Just as God is holy, good and merciful, God's adversary is the source of evil, hatred and wickedness. He is a fallen angel who tempts humans to rebel against God and encourages them to commit rebellious and harmful acts against God, against themselves and against others. (Luke 10:18, I Peter 5:8, Rev. 12:10)
About Eternity, Heaven and Hell: Human beings were created to exist forever, and will indeed do so, either by their own free choice separated from God (in Hell, a real place) or by free choice in God's presence (in Heaven, a real place). (Romans 6:23, Romans 8:16-18, I Cor. 2:7-9, Rev. 20:15)
About Missions/Reaching Out: The Church is the agent of God to push back darkness and evil, enlarging God's Kingdom on the earth and proclaiming the good news of God's love for all, His provision for salvation for all, and His call for all to follow him and be a part of His Kingdom, with Jesus as our example. (Matt. 28:19-20, I Peter 2:9, Psalm 96:2, Luke 4:18, Luke 9:60, Col 1:28, John 3:16)
About Water Baptism: Christians are to be baptized in water upon confession of faith, as an outward act symbolizing an inward change in their lives, and as a proclamation of their desire to live for God and serve in His Kingdom. (Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12 & 8:36-38, Acts 18:8, Gal. 3:27)
About Spirit-Led Living: The healthy Christian life is god-honoring, extending love and service to all others. The fruit of the Holy Spirit and the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are both growing in the person's life, and freely offered to all others, believer and non-believer alike. (Gal. 5:22-23, Romans 15:13, Matt. 10:8)
