Service Times
Sunday 9 a.m. Spirit Village - a weekly child-centric and play-based spiritual circle for families and children. We gather together in a “tent” to sing, hear a story based on lectionary readings, pray, and share communion. Children are invited to use their senses to explore their emerging faith, wonder, discover the art of religious language, and share experiences of God in community. The service is recommended for children under 10 and supports individuals on the Autism spectrum and those with special needs. Sunday 10:10AM - Communion with organ and hymns, Sundays at 10:10 a.m. we draw on the ancient traditions of the Christian Church as well as our congregation’s heritage of living as a community where everyone matters. At St. Cyprian’s we build community through worship and working together. Our 10:10 service includes rites and practices that date back to the earliest days of the Christian Church. Wednesday 10:30AM Healing Service & Communion. We gather for Anointing for Healing & Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Chapel. There before the stain glass window reminding us of Jesus praying in the garden at Gethsemane. Each week we will also commemorate the life of one holy woman or man who has been recognized by the Episcopal Church for their spiritual contribution to our world. Fourth Wednesday is Senior's Wednesday: free hot lunch for seniors with raffle and music at noon (follows Wedneday Healing Eucharist).

BELIEFS

We follow the Anglican tradition of using scripture, reason, and tradition in finding our path to live a Christian life in 21st century San Francisco. We celebrate diversity: we are black, brown and white; young, middle aged and senior citizen; we are gay, lesbian, and straight. We really mean it when we say: “All are welcome.” That’s why we are a safe place for those LGBT people who have been hurt by the rejection of other judgmental groups who claim to be Christian churches. That is not our way of being faithful to God’s call for justice, mercy, and love. We are a Christian community using ancient traditions to help each of us – and our congregation as whole – live a spiritual life. Like many churches rooted in the African American Episcopal tradition, we continue a tradition of working for peace and justice combined with the use of ancient rites and spiritual practices that point to eternal truths. As “a San Francisco kind of Jesus joint,” we engage our urban neighborhood to create a community where everyone matters and all have a place at the table. Through ancient worship and spiritual practices, we find our path to a more spirit filled life. Our commitment to building community in the neighborhood that is “North of the Panhandle” (NOPA) is reflected in the array of concerts and community meals that now fill our building. On a given week her you might join with the San Francisco Folk Club in filling our place with songs and strong harmonies; join in a free vegetarian meal; attend a healing mass planned for seniors; kneel beneath a tent with your children during Spirit Village; send your kids to an arts class with our resident artist; make or enjoy the music at our monthly 1st Friday Jazz Jam; or find a new connection to God during the 10:10 Sunday service. Our music combined both traditional Christian hymns with gospel and jazz. Our sermons focus on finding ways for us to live out the Gospel in the second decade of the 21st century in one of America’s most progressive cities. Our worship knits us togethere into community: we who are many become one because we share one bread, one cup. Through Communion, we are called and given strength to serve as the continuing incarnation of Jesus; as his eyes and hands and hearts and mouth in our daily lives around the Bay Area.
