Our Mission
Before sin existed in the world, people lived in harmony with God and each other. The book of Genesis talks about man and woman walking in the garden with God, totally open and unhindered by sin. After sin entered the world, it damaged this relationship, making it impossible to approach God in the same way. It wasn’t until Christ came, that man’s relationship with God could be restored. Through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, our sins were forgiven and a right relationship with God was again possible. Because of this good news, we as Christians are called to begin living the way we were meant to live before sin entered the world. This includes forgiving others when they hurt us, sharing ourselves and possessions with people in need, caring for the poor and marginalized, and striving for social justice and peace. These are the things we are passionate about. We believe that in joining this community, we are returning to our spiritual roots. Essentially we are becoming the restored people of God. Through our community we hope to help the world become what it was always meant to be; a place of peace and justice, forgiveness and love, equality and hope. We are Roots pb, a smaller, more community based worship experience, made up of young adults who are passionate about building authentic relationships with both God and other people. We believe that God is a very real and relevant fact of life, and having a healthy relationship with Him is the most important thing we can do. We believe that through a healthy, Christ centered community, we can experience God’s divine love and grace. Apart from this type of community, it becomes increasingly difficult. Bottle Service - Serve the community of Pacific Beach by handing out water to people leaving the clubs once a month on Friday night
Theology on Tap - Join us at a local bar & grill for some drinks and conversation about a topic in relevant modern theology!
Community Dinner - once a month we go out to dinner as a church at a local restaurant. It's a great time of community and fellowship!
PB Cleanup - Once a month on Saturday morning we spend some time cleaning up our neighborhood!
BELIEFS
We believe in the Holy Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We hold Jesus Christ as Lord over all things, before and after. We believe in the inerrancy of scripture. We believe that it is divinely inspired by God and transmitted through his people. We also believe that in submitting to the teachings of Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit of God, which is the counselor and guide to understanding both the Bible and God. It is through the presence of the Holy Spirit that we have the strength to love people who hate us, selflessly care for others and strive to become better human beings. Without this strength, these things would be nearly impossible. We also believe that the Church is the manifestation of Christ on the earth and it is our job to continue his work... in other words, to care for the broken and to include the forgotten. We hope that through our relationship with Christ, we will be lights to a darkened world and a good example of Christ for those around us.
