BELIEFS

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19) We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus died on the cross, as atonement for our sins according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven where He is at the right hand of God and is our High Priest and Advocate. (John 1:1; Hebrews 2:14; 7:25- 26; Luke 1:34-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 20:24–29; Acts 1:1–9; Colossians 3:1; 1 John2:1; Philippians 2:5–7). We believe that the Person and the work of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit works in our lives by indwelling, convicting, guiding, instructing, and empowering us to live Godly lives. The Holy Spirit fills us with the Fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control as we grow spiritually. The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts to build up the Kingdom of God. (John 3:5–8; 14:26, 16:14, 18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:11-13; 5:18–21; Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 12:3-8; I Peter 4:10-11). We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of humankind, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16–17; John 14:26; 16:12–15) We believe that the church is composed of all people who confess their faith in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ. Jesus is Lord and the Head of the church. (Colossians 1: 18–22). We believe in two Sacraments, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, as means of God’s grace. In baptism, we are buried with Christ and raised into a new life, we are engrafted into the body of Christ, washed clean of our sins and are filled with the Holy Spirit. In the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, we believe that Christ is spiritually present as we celebrate this means of grace. (Matthew 28:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26). We believe that humanity was created in the image of God but fell into sin (Genesis 3) and is therefore separated from God. Scripture teaches “that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory and “that we are saved by grace through faith.” Only through this irresistible grace of the Holy Spirit and confession of faith can salvation and eternal life be obtained By Christ’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection we are justified and become children of God. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12–21; John 3:5–8; Hebrews 9:22–28; Romans 4:25; John 1:10–13; 3:5–8). We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and will come again. This assurance is our “Blessed Hope” and has a vital bearing on our personal life and service for Christ and His church. Through Christ’s resurrection all believers are given eternal life and everlasting joy with the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:51– 53; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Titus 2:11–14).
