Meet The Pastor
Pastor Mark Lauer
The Rev. Mark Lauer is the Senior Pastor (Rector) at Christ the King Anglican Church. He has been married to Shawnie since 1990 and is the father of Morgan, born in 2005. Mark is an extroverted people-person and a dreamer sort of visionary. He loves team-building and working alongside others to accomplish mission. “What gets me out of bed every morning,” Mark says, “is knowing that my ministry is used by God to help transform people’s lives for eternity, because here and now they come into relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ.” As people-oriented as he is, Mark loves solitude and quiet time for reflection, rest and study, too. He also plays the guitar, is a licensed pilot, was a roadie for a band, and has far more songs on his iPhone than games. He loves going to movies and wish he did so more often. He also wishes he could lower his golf handicap more, but he’ll take the rounds he can get. He loves riding his Trek 5500 and his Honda 750 Aero Shadow– one of those has an engine, the other doesn’t. :)
Mark worked in the technology market of Silicon Valley for 14 years and ran his own international sales consulting business for 6 of those years, producing $100 million in revenue for his clients, mostly Japanese and Asian clients, seeking to establish sales channels in the USA for whole systems or components for systems, like computers, printers, and even silicon wafer manufacturing equipment. During this time, Mark was a bi-vocational pastor and church planter.
In 2004 Mark co-founded a coaching center for life coaching, relationship coaching, and sales coaching (www.centerforrelationship.com). In the 1990’s, Mark also began working at-large as a pastor in the local community for ministry outreach to those with no church home, but who, at milestone moments in life– weddings, baptisms, funerals– needed a pastor (www.pastormarklauer.com).
He has earned degrees in psychology at Oregon State University and theology at Fuller Seminary, and he has done post-graduate work in counseling psychology at Santa Clara University and in theology at the Anglican School for Ministry. He has served as an associate pastor at Calvary Church of Los Gatos, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, South Hills Community Church (now known as WestGate Church South Hills), and on the church planting team of Cornerstone Community Church (San Jose). Mark has served on the board of two non-profit corporations and consults with pastors and church leaders around the country. He currently serves as a Regional Vicar with The Anglican Mission in the Americas to provide encouragement, care and coaching to pastors and clergy in The Mission (www.theamia.org).
