BELIEFS

We honor our Wesleyan roots: Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God. We believe the Bible is primary and authoritative but we lean heavily on the teachings of Jesus Christ for our inspiration. We recognize the importance of tradition in planning for the future so long as it does not conflict with Christ’s teachings. We value Reason, Experience, critical thinking, and reflection in making sense of Scripture and Tradition and apply them to contemporary situations. We acknowledge personal and communal religious experience as another source of insight into God’s truth. We believe that all these operate in harmony and love to form the basis for a balanced and holistic approach to understanding the Christian faith.
