Is this church really a cult? My family member joined & is now isolated & his $ is disappearing

My stepfather joined this church after my mother passed away. His new lady friend is a member. But it's really odd because she isolates him from all of his family and is mean spirited toward us. He's not permitted to watch anything but religious TV at her house...
