I have several friends who indicated they attended this church and really liked their pastor. So, on the strength of their recommendation, my wife and I visited. I should hasten to add that I was raised in the Baptist Church but have not actively attended one in more than 30 years. I wanted something more. This church might be it. I appreciated the pastor's dedication to a) the Word of God; b) the people of God; and c) connecting the people of God to the Word of God. His message was refreshing and reminded me of all that I loved about preaching in the Baptist Church of my childhood. The choir was also quite good, as were the musicians. Sometimes the worship felt a little Catholic, though, with the exhortations to "stand up," "raise your hands," etc. My personal preference is always the Spirit of God to move on the people and for their response to be to the Spirit's prompting and not the prompting of a leader. Despite my last sentence, I suspect we'll be back.
