United Methodist
The union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church gave birth to the third largest Christian denomination in the United States, the United Methodist Church. The UMC's theological orientation is Wesleyan as it traces its roots to John Wesley. It observes both liturgical and evangelical elements. The UMC recognizes the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed. They follow the Book of Discipline, a book containing rules and regulations for church workers and lay members. Some of its beliefs include: the Trinity, the Bible as the inspired word of God, salvation through Jesus Christ, the doctrine of sanctification, ordination of women as clergy and many more.
