Our congregation focuses on building community, providing meaningful worship experiences, and exploring the Bible, theology, and social issues through diverse educational opportunities. We are committed to advocating for and working directly with unhoused people, sharing our space, collaborating with other churches and community organizations to do ministry more effectively, and supporting one another and our neighbors as we journey through life together.
The name of our congregation comes from a village mentioned in the Gospel of Luke.
“On the day Jesus was reported to have risen from the dead, two followers walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus were met by Jesus, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. As they walked along he ‘interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures . . . . Upon reaching their destination, the followers invited the stranger to stay with them.
