Our Mission
Reaching the lost, one soul at a time, while growing the church in the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord.
The focus of River of Life Church is not for the purpose of being seen or known on this earth, but rather to hear the precious words “Well Done” by our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ. We desire LIVES to be changed, HEARTS to be restored, and COMMITMENTS to be made to Jesus.

About River of Life Missionary Church
The mission of River of Life Missionary Church has not changed – Reaching the lost for Jesus one soul at a time. During its mission, River of Life Missionary Church has assisted with the Michigan City Homeless Shelter including a period when they opened the church doors to assist with housing the homeless community in the city and feeding the hungry. The church is involved with Meals on Wheels to assist with providing meals to those disabled citizens needing assistance. No matter the mission or ministry, the central focus of the church is the find those in need of SEEING JESUS, HEARING JESUS, and ACCEPTING JESUS.
We are a small church in number, but believe that God is not looking for the large church to be a blessing in the world. We believe that Jesus is the ONLY WAY for salvation (John 10:10) and we will never put any other option next to Him. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit, but will never highlight a gift over the GIVER of the gift. We know who our focus is and we allow Him to lead us. Our vision was originally central to Michigan City and has grownto assisting with those in need in Chicago as well as abroad in Malawi and South Africa since we have prayed for God to enlargen our territory. The blessing that we get out of being a blessing is the joy in seeing and hearing people receiving what we never have to beg to receive. Whether it be food, clothing, shelter, water, River of Life Church pushes to be a community church who is not ashamed to see the need. We look at it like Isaiah 6 when God asked "Whom shall I send and who will go for us?". Just like Isaiah's response, we desire our response to be "Here we are! Send us!"
If you join us on a Sunday Morning, the Sunday School focuses at feeding your soul and challenging you to know and learn the scripture. It transitions into a time of prayer to get our focus on praising God. It is hard to praise and worship if we have other things on our mind. We start with prayer to redirect and focus on Jesus. Praise and Worship can vary from Traditional hymns to Contemporary choruses to Gospel worship. We like to merge all styles so we can worship together.
After worship time, Pastor Roscoe will bring the word which will mostly be a topical message for the people. There are occasions where the messages are grouped into a series, but they will never steer away from the Word of God. At that time, the children are able to go to children's church and learn in a children's friendly environment where they can strengthen their social skills while learning the truth in the Word of God.
We look forward to meeting you!

BELIEFS
The beliefs of River of Life Missionary Church are foundationally established in scripture. None of our beliefs come from man’s ideas or thoughts. Each point will be confirmed through scripture as validation and proof for our stance in Christ.
The Beginning:
In the beginning, God created the heavens, the earth and all that lives upon it, including man and woman. There was a union between God and Man until sin came into the world and separated us from God. From this point, Man has been on a search for completion, happiness and comfort that can only be found in God ALONE.
(Genesis 1-3; John 3:16; Colossians 2:10)
God:
There is but one eternal, all powerful, all knowing and all present Triune God… Father – Son – Holy Spirit… who is the Creator and sustainer of all things.
(Deuteronomy 6:4-5; 1 Timothy 2:5)
Jesus Christ:
He is God incarnate. He was born in the flesh of a virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died to make atonement for the sins of all mankind, was buried in a borrowed tomb, was bodily resurrected and is now the Mediator at the right hand of the Father. He is assuredly coming with all power and Glory for His believing followers, and is the only Savior of mankind.
(John 1:1; 14; Titus 2:11-14; 1 John 4:10)
The Holy Spirit:
He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, regenerating all who repent of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. He sanctifies, empowers, teaches, guides and comforts the believers.
(John 16:7; 8:12-15)
The Bible:
The bible is the divinely inspired word of God and thus authoritative in all matters it addresses.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20; 21)
Salvation:
This is the result of genuine repentance of sin and faith in the atoning work of Christ. It brings forgiveness to the penitent, makes him a partaker of the divine nature and gives him peace with God. This is called new birth.
(John 3:16; 1 John 1:9; Romans 10:9)
The Church:
We believe in the invisible and universal church as an organism. It is composed of all Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, its living Head and Sovereign Lord.
(Matthew 16:18; Hebrews 12:22-24)
The Rapture:
At a time during the Tribulation Period (before the Wrath of God is poured out on all the earth), Jesus will return for all those (dead/ alive) who accepted Him as Lord and Savior and remove them from the earth to be with Him.
(Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 5:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)
