Meet The Pastor

Reverend Sandy Johnson
Reverend Sandy Johnson
Reverend Sandy Johnson was born and raised in Oregon and was the youngest of four children. She grew up in the Methodist Church and although left it for a time after high school, returned when she and her husband decided to get married. Her Wesleyan roots are strong as she is passionate about her love for God, for humanity and striving for justice for those who have no voice. She and her husband, John, moved to Las Vegas in 1988 and began their family in 1990. They have three children, Calvin (31), Claire (29) and Camille (17). She served as a lay person for years in the Las Vegas valley serving Trinity UMC, FaithSprings UMF and Green Valley UMC in Henderson. She first felt a call to ministry in 1999 and after many years of trials and setbacks she was ordained as an Elder in the UMC in June of 2015. She is experienced with church planting, and has a passion for evangelism, preaching, music and sharing God’s love. She describes herself as a servant leader and is relational in her approach to ministry. She came to ministry after two success careers – the first in mental health as a behavioral therapist working with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children and youth; the second was in sales, first as a Mary Kay Sales Director and then as an account executive in the trade show industry. Pastor Sandy has a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in Sociology and Master of Divinity Degree from Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO. Rev. Sandy served at Boulder City UMC for 7 years. During her time, they grew and were chartered as a church in February of 2014. She was instrumental in expanding the mission and ministries to the community, guiding the church to become a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network and sparked vitality and growth in the congregation. In July 2019 she came to Sahuarita to lead the church into a period of revitalization and growth. She invites you to join us for worship, participate in our mission work, or join our church family and experience the fullness of a relationship with Jesus in a vital and growing community of believers.
