Rev. Yolanda Lewi
Rev. Yolanda Lewi is a Native New Yorker. Born and raised in the Bronx. She entered the world of insurance in 1996 as a Regional Secretary and acquired her licenses (including securities licensing) in 2000. She is licensed in all lines of insurance including Life, Accident and Health, and Property & Casualty. While working for Metlife, she got her introduction into the world of construction in managing the build out of 5 storefront offices in Harlem; Liberty Ave and Flushing Main Street, Queens; Brooklyn and Staten Island. She worked as Project Manager for J K & Sons Construction Company, and Thruway Enterprises. She went on to form RJR Lewi Construction Company in 2008 and successfully managed excavation and underpinning, gut renovations including plumbing, sewer and water line removals and installations. She began teaching Life, Accident and Health Insurance as well as Property & Casualty insurance pre-licensing and Continuing Education courses with A. D. Banker & Company in 2006. She maintains her own Professional Services office which she refers to as a one-stop financial services shop. She provides financial advice and insurance sales. Yolanda Lewi joined H & R Block in October 2004, where she studied and acquired Enrolled Agent status, enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service since 2012. She provides tax advice and preparation, audit assistance and representation. She is a Lead/Senior Tax Expert for Intuit/Turbo Tax. She also teaches Defensive Driving for the New York Safety Program, and has done so since 2006. And in her spare time she provides volunteer bookkeeping services to non-profit organizations. Rev. Yolanda Lewi joined Christ Jesus Baptist Church in 2014. She became the Executive Director in 2016, where she operates a food pantry in the Bronx and has expanded the services and formed, Nahyah Ministries, to include free tax services, SNAP recertification and application assistance, housing referrals, gently used clothes, and anything else that she may be able to assist the community. In addition, she is also a Facilitator with the Alternatives to Violence Project anti-violence program, and the Coordinator for the AVP program at Bedford Hills Women’s Maximum Security Correctional Facility. Yolanda is a proud mother of five children (including a son in the Army) and a grandmother of ten. And, finally, she has been proactive in working to promote the commemoration of Juneteenth. Participating on committees to celebrate the end of slavery and the fact that it took 2 years before the final slaves in the town of Galveston, Texas were freed. The struggle continues, and Rev. Yolanda Lewi is a proactive participant.
