Rev. Walter Coy
Rev. Walter Coy graduated from Youngstown State University. He earned an Associate Degree in Police Science and a Bachelor Degree with Religious Studies. He graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree with specifications in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, OH. Rev. Coy was Ordained in 1989 with the Disciples of Christ and has dual standing with the United Church of Christ. He is on the Pulpit Supply for the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Presbyterian Church and UCC. He has served many churches throughout Northeastern Ohio, Pennsylvania and Northeastern Indiana. Rev. Coy has Conflict Management Training and One Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from Akron General Hospital. Rev. Coy received his Interim training in Boston, MA from a company based out of Baltimore, MD. He has served as Asst. Chaplain at Leavittsburg Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg, OH and helped open and set up the Religious Department and programming at Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Conneaut, OH while serving as their Head Chaplain. Rev. Coy has served on the Executive Board of the Ohio Conference and Western Reserve Association of the United Church of Christ. He served as a Mental Health Therapist for 5 years and has been a Substitute School Teacher for 18 years. Rev. Coy has been married to his wife Joyce for 32 years. They live in Boardman, OH. They are a blended family. They have four children between them, and four grandchildren.
