Meet The Pastor
Senior Pastor Derik
Pastor Derik was born and raised in San Jose, California. At the age of 11, he knew he was called to be a Pastor. He walked with God all through his middle and high school years. He later attended Bethany University in Scotts Valley, California where he battled between choosing a major. Derik ended up in the administration office in tears the day he chose to fully commit to ministry and his calling to be a pastor. Later in his college years, Derik began dating Sarah, who he met at his home church during high school. A few years after that Derik was asked to step in as the Junior High Pastor in 2012. Derik preached every week and Sarah became the youth worship director. After three years of dating, Derik and Sarah got married in July of 2013.
They took the biggest leap of faith together when they decided to leave their home church in San Jose at the end of 2014. Just a few months after that Sarah left her job to pursue music and ministry full time. With no backup plan, they began to chase after God and his heart. After a year God planted their feet at RISE CITY CHURCH in March of 2016. They are so excited to call Redwood City home, and they can’t wait to see all that God has in store for this next season.
