Meet The Pastor
Pastor Zeke Wharton
Pastor Zeke Wharton grew up in Silver Spring, MD and has always called it home. A graduate of John F. Kennedy HS, he went to college nearby at University of Maryland College Park. Go Terps! Pastor Zeke went on to earn Master’s degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Trinity Theological Seminary. Before launching ICC, he served as the head of Forcey Christian School and also as the president of the Interfaith Community Against Domestic Violence. Additionally, Pastor Zeke has extensive experience teaching the Bible to children and adults of all ages. He also speaks about domestic violence issues and has given seminars on public speaking.
Pastor Zeke has been married to Cheryl since 1995, and they have two children, Bethany and JD. Cheryl works at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Fulton and has directed a local church Mother’s Day Out ministry. She also served as the student president of Cru’s campus ministry before graduating from the University of Maryland a year after her future husband. They enjoy attending professional baseball games, cheering on their kids’ sports team, relaxing at the beach and watching HGTV (OK, that last one is just Cheryl).
Pastor Zeke and Cheryl are passionate about seeing people grow closer to God as they are inspired by His Word. Pastor Zeke put his trust in Jesus as a young child. Meanwhile, Cheryl became a Christ-follower in high school, after getting involved in a church youth group. After having served in the local church all of their adult lives, they felt called to launch a new work in 2012. It was a big step of faith, but they decided to go for it! They are grateful for God’s direction of their lives. The family is excited about serving God together at Inspiration Community Church. They would love to see you there! If you visit, be sure to introduce yourself to them.
