Our Mission
We want our church’s Welcome Statement to be “All Are Welcome.” But who can really believe that anymore? Over the years too many churches have made that claim, often with good intentions, but in reality everyone is not welcome, or at least not welcome as equals.
Single moms are welcome! Until their toddler screams in the middle of the sermon and they turn to see the judgmental glares, and hear the not-so-welcoming whispers behind them.
We are “gay-friendly!” We welcome LGBTQI+ people! They’re welcomed, but they can’t teach the kids. They’re welcomed, but they can’t be elders. They’re welcomed, but…
All races and ethnicities are welcome! But when a black woman enters a church of all white people, she is weighed down with the feeling that this worship experience will be to similar to going to work, school, the gym, etc.
People who are not Christ-followers are welcome! But there is an unspoken probationary period where at the end a conversion is expected.
All viewpoints are welcome! Unless you happen to be a TBN watching, young-earth-creationist-espousing conservative, in which case it would be best to keep all of your opinions to yourself.
You get the point.
But at Double Cure Church all are welcome. There are no second class citizens here. All are welcome and we welcome you not as a car salesman welcomes you onto his lot, but as a thirsty traveller needing water. We extend a special welcome to the weary, the hurt, the broken, the outcast. We want the scared and the scarred. We want those who failed all the litmus tests.
We are a church of those recovering, healing, lost, doubting, questioning, seeking. We are what Brennan Manning called Ragamuffins, what Jesus called “the least of these.” We don’t have all the answers, but we have Faith that we don’t need all the answers. We don’t have solutions for your sins, but we have Hope that God’s Grace is bigger. We don’t have theological certainty, but we have Jesus and His love for us all.
We have love, and Jesus talked as if love would always be enough: He said that we would be known as His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35). He said that the most important commandment in all the Law and Prophets was to love God the best we can, with every part of our being, and to extend to our neighbors all the love, forgiveness, grace and understanding that we give to ourselves (Matthew 22; Mark 12). He talked about how our love for those in need, for the hungry, the stranger, the thirsty, the poor, the sick, the prisoner, our love for these people would separate the righteous from the unrighteous (Matthew 25).
We believe that despite all the varied and sundry ways we can be differentiated from each other, what we hold in common is deeper still: we are all beloved children of God, the God who came down to walk in the dirt with us, the God who showed us how to walk the hard road of love, the God of death and resurrection.
If you are looking for our “Statement of Belief”, you just read it. Our Welcome Statement is what we believe.

About Double Cure Church
Visit our website at www.doublecurechurch.org.
We meet at at the Active Tracks building off Main St./Old 55 on the second floor of the Omni Business Park Building.
Our purpose is to seek God and find community in this disconnected world.
We’re trying to address “The Great Disconnect”: We live in a world that is disconnected from the God who created us, disconnected from our extended families by geography, disconnected from each other in the neighborhoods we live in and the companies we work for, by the politics we ascribe to and by all manner of other things.
We are a small group of Christ followers who value simplicity, authenticity, and the supremacy and example of Jesus.
