Our Mission

You may have noticed that we are purely non-denominational. This is due to our belief that although the Reformation did have some success, these successes were limited and fell short of their true potential. It is our goal to continue and finish the Reformation by continuing to reject ancient unbiblical practices and doctrines. The Apostle Jude himself exhorts us to "return to the faith once delivered to the saints." Although the Reformation pointed us toward the right direction, it stopped short of achieving some of its early goals. We seek to promote holiness, righteousness, love, service, devotion to God, and education.

BELIEFS

It is our goal to restore "the faith once delivered to the saints", from the modern Church which has been corrupted by the unbiblical "traditions and doctrines of man." We believe we are in the age which Jeremiah prophesied about, saying "The Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness and unprofitable things.” This would also therefore be the time that Zechariah spoke of, saying "In those days ten men from every language of the gentiles shall grasp the hem of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” We are seeking "the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; Then we will find rest for our souls" (Jeremiah 6:16). The following is a brief summary of our core beliefs and why we adhere to them. For more details, see our teachings on these topics. Jesus is Messiah: Let's start with the basics, Here at NHNS we believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah of Israel, and those who have been grafted in. We believe him to be the fulfillment of a number of prophecies, and by his sacrificial blood we are redeemed to God. "...having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." (Romans 5:9) Keeping the Law of God as revealed to Moses: We believe that Jesus and the apostles taught people to keep the Law (Torah) to the best of their abilities, not out of mindless habit but out of love for our Father and His Son. "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-19). "Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law." (Romans 3:31). Observing the festivals of the Lord: Part of keeping the instructions of God are His holidays, (moedim, lit. "appointments"). Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles. These are His prophetic celebrations. In fact, some include the commandment "you shall rejoice" (which is contrary to the prevalent belief that the Law is burdensome). Each of them has a physical initiation in the desert with Moses in addition to a fulfillment in the first and second comings of Messiah. “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are MY feasts." (Leviticus 23:2). Traditions and Doctrines of man: Jesus preached against many of the traditions and doctrines invented by man because they are often incompatable with the commandments of God. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. (Matthew 23:27-28) Roots Of Our Faith: Our bible was written by Hebrews, most of it in the Hebrew language. It only makes sense to look to the native people to understand the text in its original language, history and context. "What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God." (Romans 3:1-2) God Has a Name: Did you know that God has a personal name? It appears 6828 times in the Old Testament alone. It has the power to bless, to confirm a vow, to protect, etc. He told us to always mention and remember Him by His name. We hold to the usage of that name, which we believe to be pronounced as "Yehowah" although we understand that Jehovah and Yahweh are also popular usages. If your pronunciation differs, that's fine with us, so long as you're trying to uphold His Torah instructions. His name will appear frequently throughout our website. However, in some cases it will remain "LORD", to make sure everyone understands. "In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you." -Exodus 20:24
