Progressive National Baptist Convention
The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Incorporated, was formed in 1961 when this group decided to separate from NBCUSA, another Baptist denomination. The dispute included administrative, procedural and civil rights issues. The PNBC believes in "social justice and human liberation as a mandate of the Gospel". A famous civil right advocate from this group was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
