I went from 2015-2020 and my mother was a member from 2003 to her death in 2020. The membership wanted to be in the dark ages it seems and the pastors tried to put in some new things. The membership would complain about things the pastors did like their float ideas for the town's Christmas parade and Trunk or Treat, they would tell members who were in therapy that the only mental health care they need is praying, and they were highly sexist. The only women I saw doing things more upfront were petite and thin and the average girl was told to go sit and pray. They had this one membership of the elder board who would tell women that they can't do anything and need to be submissive and quiet. This member also told a woman with Native American blood that she needed to destroy everything she had related to her culture because it was evil. And the worst part? The congregation protected him to where there was nothing the leadership could do. When my mother passed in 2020, the membership used COVID as an excuse not to talk to or my father at all. I get it, you want to not be around people in person but phone calls are another thing. I left in 2020 and was shunned because the only time someone from there really talked to me, they basically asked if I was going to return and when I told them I went to another church, they walked away.
