This church is not very typical - in a good way. It started as a home church, meeting in fellowship on people's couches. They have continued that comfortable homey tradition today and during church service on Sunday mornings, everyone sits comfortably on fluffy couches, drinking coffee, while Pastor Brian teaches.
I found the church through the coffee shop - Clay's Cafe is open on Saturdays from 6-10, and my friends found it was one of the only coffee shops in Altus willing to let people sit and play board games. Everyone at the church was very welcoming, and I felt at home right away. I knew this was a place I could 'be myself', learning to love Christ without having to pretend I am already perfect. This is the type of church where I can 'be real' and know that the Christians here love me for who I am in Christ, not some version of myself that I portray on Sunday morning.
