This is the only church in alamogordo that we were aware of that taught KJV only. So we attended. After becoming members and being there about one year, we stopped going. On a Wednesday night I wore dress pants (same as I wore to work which was a bank) and i was humiliated in front of several members by Pastor Hodges that I could not work nursery that night because my pants were inappropriate and baggy; it needed to be a dress. I was embarrassed but decided to look past it. Second story. After convincing my husband to go on their Tuesday night door to door witnessing, we finally went. My husband wore nice jeans with a button up plaid shirt and belt. Again not good enough. He needed to wear a tie. Okay we can look past that too. Still attended. Third story. Pastor Hodges came to our home uninvited, which is fine, but I was not expecting company so I was not dressed in anything but a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt. So as we sat on the couch after Letting him in, he asked my husband how he feels about coming home to a wife who looks like a man by the way I dress in shorts. I confronted the pastor about my feelings via text and that resulted in going nowhere. These are only 3 examples of what I went through here. The Pastor also spoke ill of other local Pastors which put a bad taste in our mouthed. This church does preach the gospel. True and correct. So many beautiful people also attend this church who I miss. We appreciated that and that’s why we stayed so long. But we were able to leave and find a church that did the same while also feeling accepted.
