After not attending church for a number of years, my husband and I decided to look for a church when our daughter was ready for her First Holy Communion. The "church school" teachers at Calvary helped our daughter catch up on things she missed so she could receive the First Holy Communion sacrament with others in her 2nd grade class.
The church is also a lovely place for baptisms. The baby's family sits in the first few pews while the parents and godparents are on the alter. Father Harry uses a seashell to pour baptismal water over the baby's forehead. I think the shell is a lovely keepshake.
Calvary is a small church so you'll get to know people if you want, at your own speed. We have a fellowship hour while the kids are in "church school". You can grab a cup of coffee or tea and chat or sit and read the news--whatever you feel like that day!
In addition to Father Harry, Mother Ann is also a priest at Calvary. Father Harry, Mother Ann and Decon Jack always have wonderful sermons. They each have a unique style. The sermons are thought-provoking and insightful. They are discussed in the context of biblical times and relevance for today. They can bring tears to your eyes or make you laugh. The sermons are generally my favorite part of the Service. The music is a close second.
The church is very welcoming of all types of people and families which is very important to us. If you think it may be a good match for you, stop by any Sunday!
