There is a very rigid, angry, and cult-ish spirit surrounding this church. I don't think it ever was intended to be that way, but after years without accountability and a lot of enabling from others, the pastor has drifted. There isn't much to be said other than honest counseling was needed a long time ago and it didn't happen. The pastor is very educated in the Bible but lacks the grace and gentleness that Christ first calls us to have. This place will warp your mind, and there will be a backlash when you decide to get out of it, you will be demonized. The congregation is dwindling, which is encouraging as other people are beginning to see this too. The pastor will talk about having accountability and being open to correction and even rebuke, but when the time comes your issues with him will be twisted back onto you. I honestly have no idea how he is still in leadership after now filing for divorce from his wife of less than a year, going to jail for disorderly conduct, and allegedly dragging her with his car. Verbal abuse, yelling, screaming, and violence are all justified and even validated by not only this church but other people in his circle. Which is more dangerous, a clock off two minutes or two hours? ... two minutes because it's hard to tell that it's off but over time the minutes add up and you're way off base. Also worth noting... the entire new testament is written in Greek. The pastor may be able to translate the old from Hebrew to English, but the new testament is a completely different language. "If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing."
