A little over two years ago my husband and I purchased a house in Vero Beach that we planned to use as a vacation rental for ten years or so and perhaps retire in Vero after that. We had been living in the center of the state of Florida in Haines City for the previous 19 years. After buying the rental house we spend 3 weekends fixing it up for the renters and each of the three weekends we visited Vero Beach churches that were nondenominational because we were here on a Sunday and wanted to honor the Lord. We had a nice church in Haines City but we wanted a Vero Beach Church for when we were here on the weekends. On the 3rd weekend we visited Oceans Unite Christian Centre which we found on the internet listed under Non-Denominational Church in Vero Beach. I'll admit I really didn't want to visit there. I thought it looks small and I can't be anonymous there. Unfortunately I had low expectations (sad but true!). But we went anyway and then it was small but...... we loved every minute of it! There were 27 people there that first day and two years later there are over 300 worshipping there. Well we loved it so much, that we began to commute an hour and a half from Haines City on Sundays, staying all day for the night service (which is always awesome!) arriving back home in Haines City around 11PM. Our Vero house was occupied by renters so church people would take us home with them between the morning and evening services. After a year of this we said to each other, "let's not wait 10 years, let's move to Vero now!" So we did! This church was worth moving for! The pastors Alex and Naomi Pappas are challenging us in so many wonderful ways. We are growing where we didn't even know we needed to grow. Although we've loved the Lord for 40+ years we feel brand new all over again. We look forward to every service and sit on the edge of our seats in anticipation! This church is also so very loving. Not just the pastors, but the whole team! We've made so many new friends there.
