A Little Oasis For Everyone

I can't say much about the Church, we have never been inside. My family discovered a really cool free library outside last week. We have already been 3-4 times. I recommend visiting. We met the lady in charge of building it with her scouts. My son has Asperger's and most people who don't know him think he is rude or anti-social. He doesn't have any friends. We met our scout artist friend when she was putting some artwork on the outside of the library. I visited with her while my son ignored the world and looked through a book. Without saying anything she handed my son a decorated puzzle piece with glue on the back of it and he got to put it on the library. He insisted on helping glue the other pieces on before we could leave. Again, not saying anything! She continued to put more glue on the pieces and hand them to my son until he was finished. When my son decided it was time to go, it was time to go.Our new friend asked what kind of books he likes. He's literal so no fairy tales or fiction. When we went to the library again on Saturday our artist came outside with two science books and put them on the bench next to my son. :) I feel awful for not remembering her name for writing this review but this is a case where actions speak louder than words. Even without a name it's still important to say thank you. I don't know if she's a volunteer or member but if one person from this church is a good spirit I am sure there are more. My son will never be able to scout, but we appreciate the scouts doing something really cool like this for the neighborhood. Such a great idea. Thank you to Christ Congregational for providing a much needed little oasis in the neighborhood, a watering hole for those of us that don't get too much of a chance elsewhere! And thank you Artist friend for treating my son like a person when he gave you no physical form of gratitude in return. He doesn't smile much, Asperger's can rob you of that. But I know when he is smiling inside.
