A few years ago, while serving on the Church Council, I said out loud for the first time, "I'm a Christian agnostic.""Agnostic" means "without knowledge." To me, that means that I follow the teachings of Jesus without pretending that I know a lot of facts about him or about God.
I worried some about saying that, but immediately someone else said, "I think that describes me, too." In the meantime, others have identified with that label and no one has a problem with it. (Leslie Weatherhead published "The Christian Agnostic" fifty years ago.) My own faith has been influenced by the thoughts of Rev. Michael Dowd, summed up in "Thank God for Evolution."
At our church you can believe as you like; no one will try to change you. My wife is Jewish; no one thinks she should change. She is a church member and has been honored for her service to the church and community.
Let us welcome you among us. Experience the comfort of being the person you always wanted to be.
