Mennonite

As early as 1683, the Mennonite Church was brought to America by Dutch and German immigrants. Many came to America because of persecution in Europe due to the great upheaval of the Reformation. The Mennonites have their roots in the Anabaptist movement which rejected infant baptism. Generally speaking the Mennonite Church practices godly living based on the Sermon on the Mount and until recently frowned on much of secular life including taking oaths, bearing arms, voting and holding public office.
