The United Church of Christ is a Protestant denomination that began in 1957 as a result of the merging of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches. They are similar in practice and theology to the Church of Christ. They practice open communion allowing non-members of their denomination to take part in the Lord's Supper.
