Lutheran Church of Missouri Synod

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod was founded in 1847 in Chicago, Illinois by German Lutheran immigrants. Today, this denomination is considered the second largest Lutheran group in USA and the eighth largest Protestant. Like other Lutheran groups, the LCMS believes in "Sola Scriptura" and rejects many of the Roman Catholic practices and beliefs. They are conservative in their theology yet liturgical in worship style.
