African Methodist Episcopal Zion
The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is not to be mistaken with the AME Church as they are two different denominations but share the same Methodist doctrines and roots. Historically, the AME Zion Church was formed because of racial discrimination in the 1800s. It grew and developed into many AME Zion Churches in the United States but the denomination has also focused much of its attention and energies on outreach around the world. To date, the AME Zion Church has member churches on all continents except Australia. Their mission is to to increase their love for God and to help meet the needs of humankind by "loving God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with our entire mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves."
